The systematic development of these fields and the provision of conditions for their long-term exploitation enable Azerbaijan to ensure its domestic energy security while also exporting substantial volumes of natural gas to international markets.

As President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly emphasized, the Southern Gas Corridor is not merely an energy project but one of the major geostrategic initiatives of the 21st century. As the initiator and driving force behind this project, Azerbaijan has introduced a new, secure, diversified, and long-term gas supply route to the global energy market. Through segments such as TANAP and TAP, Azerbaijani gas is now delivered to a broad geographic area in Europe, including Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, and other countries. This further strengthens Azerbaijan’s reputation as a reliable energy partner both in the region and across the continent.

In addition to providing a strong impetus to Azerbaijan’s economic development, the country’s natural gas reserves enable Azerbaijan to assert its voice on the international stage, to be recognized as a strong partner, and to play an active role in ensuring regional stability.

Ultimately, Azerbaijan’s rich gas fields, modern energy infrastructure, globally significant transnational projects, and principles of reliable partnership enable the country today to export natural gas to numerous states on a long-term, stable, and secure basis. This once again demonstrates the successful implementation of Azerbaijan’s energy policy both regionally and globally.
